One of my cousins is getting graduated soon and she has just gone for an interview and the interviewers asked her an unprepared question: “What do you see yourself in 10 years’ time?” She was frozen in panic as she never thought of this question before and even when she is thinking about it now, she just couldn’t see her future. The main reason is she is a scholarship-holder and has to fulfill her 5-year bond with the sponsored educational bodies after she graduates. 5 years is a long year especially when she is not so keen about teaching for all her life. In addition, she is concerned that working in public sector will stifle her growth and exposure. After the bond obligation, will she still have any market value and will she be too old to switch to other job?

Contrary to what most believe that scholarship is a stepping stone to better career opportunities, there are some scholarship-holders, however, feel weighted down by the bond.
